M. F. Feroni

 Diese Skulptur ist ein Modell für eine Marmorbüste des Marquise Fabio Feroni (1652-1723), eines wohlhabenden Florentiner Adligen. Die fertige Marmorbüste ist höchstwahrscheinlich die gleiche, die sich heute im National Museum of Scotland (Edinburgh) befindet. Giovacchino Fortini (1670-1736, tätig in der Toskana) stellt Fabio Feroni so dar, wie jeder Mann von Feronis gesellschaftlichem Rang dargestellt werden wollte: mit einer extravaganten Perücke, einem Symbol für großen Reichtum und gesellschaftlichen Status im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert und sehr eleganten Kleidung. In den folgenden Jahren schuf Giovacchino Fortini eine Reihe weiterer Porträts für die Familie Feroni, für die er seit seiner Jugend arbeitete.

The scultpure is a model for a marble bust of the Marquise Fabio Feroni (1652-1723), a wealthy Florentine nobleman. The finished marble is most likely to be identified with one now in the National Museum of Scotland (Edinburgh). Giovacchino Fortini (1670-1736, active in Tuscany) depicts Fabio Feroni as any man of Feroni's social standing would have wanted to be portrayed: with a flamboyant wig, a symbol of great wealth and social status in the 17th century and 18^th century, and very elegant clothes. Giovacchino Fortini went on to create a number of other portraits for the Feroni family, for whom he had worked since his youth.
